The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade has launched a new division, IOEx Ltd, which provides employers with the opportunity to train their teams through work-based apprenticeship programmes.

We understand, that as an employer, you will be looking for the best training solutions to develop the skills of your staff and drive efficiency within your business. We support a number of employers by implementing apprenticeship programmes that allow them to fill the skill gaps, give their teams growth opportunities and improve the performance of their operations..

Training is tailored to ensure existing company employees and apprentices develop the skills employers need, reducing skills shortages and removing barriers to businesses trading internationally.

Apprenticeship standards offered by IOEx LTD

level 2 warehouse operative apprenticeship

Level 2: Supply Chain Warehouse Operative

This apprenticeship trains your staff to handle goods safely in and out of the storage facility. This will involve the unloading of goods from road, land or sea freight as well as storing and selecting the products to satisfy business and customer demands. Furthermore they will learn identification and product analysis. 

Warehouse Operatives will typically work in larger organisations and often have a shift working pattern in order to provide a twenty-four-hour operation. With this level 2 apprenticeship, you can train your warehouse workforce to perform to a great standard and streamline your logistical operations.

Typical job roles that are ideally suited for this apprenticeship include, but are not limited to:

International Freight Forwarding Specialist Apprenticeship

Level 3: International Freight Forwarding Specialist Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship provides a comprehensive understanding of how freight moves, customs procedures, tariffs and costings. On completion of the 11 core duties of freight forwarding, an learner will then focus on one of three specialist pathways – air, road or ocean.

This will allow increased focus on the main means of import/export that an employee is most tasked with, or provide a more expansive breadth of knowledge to further enhance their operational capability.

Level 3: Team Leader or Supervisor

This apprenticeship will develop team leaders and supervisors into confident, resilient, and effective line managers. It will allow them to develop and consolidate their skillset and aid them in all areas of management, able to develop team members and form collaborative working units that further boost an organisations effectiveness and cohesiveness.

By learning how to manage projects, understanding how to plan and monitor workloads and make optimum use of resources, you can be confident that your line managers will embody your organisations ethos with a heightened sense of business acumen. Able to develop team members, manage projects and deliver operational plans, resolve problems, and building relationships both internally and externally, this is a truly transformative apprenticeship.

Leadership and Operational Apprenticeship

Level 5: Operational or Departmental Manager

This apprenticeship is designed to teach knowledge, skills and behaviours that ensure operational or departmental managers within your organisation are able to achieve and surpass operational goals and objectives.

They will be able to create and deliver business wide operational plans, project manage and as well as bolstering their workforce management skills, they will learn how to manage change, resources and finances.

An apprentice will also learn not only how to identify talent but to coach and mentor those identified to reach their true potential.

Typical job roles that are ideally suited for this apprenticeship include, but are not limited to:

  • Operations manager
  • Regional manager
  • Divisional manager
  • Department manager
  • Specialist manager

Businesses with an annual pay bill of £3m+ pay 0.5% of their wage bill to the Government for an apprenticeship levy. In return, employers are provided with the opportunity to offset levy payments against approved apprenticeship qualifications.

This applies for all employees irrespective of age and job role, including employees who are new to the company.
