MemberCon 2023

The Institute of Export & International Trade’s (IOE&IT) annual show, Membercon is back for 2023 and this year the focus is on practical support for traders needed to help get trade moving.

Matt Vick, trade and customs specialist at IOE&IT, says there is a lot at this year’s event for traders at all stages of their export journey. Taking place in Liverpool on 5 July, he says there is something for everyone this year:

“Whether it's getting inspired by your peers or getting answers to your most pressing trade and customs questions, you will find what you're looking for at MemberCon23,” he says.

“The focus this year is on highlighting challenges faced by British businesses in reaching international markets. We’ll be offering practical solutions to help you overcome these.”

Samantha Hodgkins, also a trade and customs specialist at IOE&IT, explains that as well as traditional conference sessions with keynote speakers and panel discussions, MemberCon23 will also feature a second workstream that is more focused on delivering the sort of practical advice and support that the IOE&IT team delivers for members all the time.

Networking

The second workstream will feature a series of “Trade Clinics”, with the topics informed by the most frequently raised questions on IOE&IT helplines. This will allow delegates to come along with practical challenges and live questions they are facing and get expert help and practical advice.

But, as with any conference, the quality of the overall experience depends as much on fellow delegates as it does on expert panels and speakers. Here, Hodgkin is clear that MemberCon23 offers something extra.

“There are enhanced networking opportunities, so you'll also be able to learn and share best practice with other delegates on the day.”

Meet the best

Vick concurs with this view, adding:

“Delegates can expect to meet both the UK's most successful exporters and some businesses that are just starting out in international trade, as well as meeting and spending time with trade professionals from across the supply chain.”
