UK Single Trade Window in the Context of Customs Modernisation
This special interest group for those operating within Borders, Ports and Logistics provides an opportunity to have your voice heard and share industry perspectives on the future of the UK border, helping to ensure that business priorities remain at the heart of discussions on border innovation and trade digitalisation.
Join us for an online interactive member-led discussion exploring the future of the UK Single Trade Window (STW) in light of the Government's broader customs modernisation agenda and ongoing border digitalisation initiatives.
While delivery of the UK STW has been paused during 2025–2026, recent consultations, the Customs Modernisation Call for Evidence, recent consultation on reshaping Single Trade Window and further emerging digital border programmes, including the next phase of Digital Trade Corridors, have reignited discussions around how technology can simplify cross-border trade.
As the government and policymakers continue to shape the future border environment, understanding what businesses need from a modern, digital customs ecosystem has never been more important.
This session will provide members with the opportunity to share perspectives on what a practical and effective Single Trade Window should deliver, identify key priorities for industry, and discuss the challenges that must be addressed to build confidence and trust in future solutions.
This session will cover:
The business case for a Single Trade Window
- Why would a single digital gateway for customs and border processes add value to your business, and where could it reduce friction in international trade?
Critical success factors and must-have features
- What capabilities, functionality, and user experiences are essential for a future STW to meet the needs of traders, intermediaries, and supply chain partners?
Building trust and addressing concerns
- What risks, challenges, or barriers to adoption need to be addressed to ensure businesses have confidence in a centralised digital platform?
The wider border digitalisation landscape
- Do current customs modernisation and border digitalisation initiatives offer a clear pathway to business benefits, or are there still gaps that need to be addressed to deliver meaningful value?
