HMRC has released the following updates about the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) and the Customs Declaration Service (CDS), warning of users experiencing difficulties with both government systems.
GVMS update
We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with GVMS.
We are aware that not all goods movements on route to border locations have been able to create a valid Goods Movement Reference.
Goods Movement References remain mandatory for freight movements using the Goods Vehicle Movement Service.
Please check with your carrier before embarking on your journey as you may be turned away without a valid Goods Movement Reference.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
CDS update
We are aware some customers are experiencing issues with CDS. We are investigating and working to resolve the issues as quickly as we can.
If you are using a location using GVMS you will be only able to complete customs movements if you have a finalised Goods Movement Reference.
