lunchtime learning

The IOE&IT has published a new series of videos to support traders as they adjust to new post-Brexit rules and learn how to trade successfully in international markets.

The new library – which is exclusive to IOE&IT members – includes recordings of the first two series of ‘Lunchtime Learning’ webinars that the IOE&IT hosted over the first six months of 2021.

IOE&IT membership engagement manager Helen Hastie called the new library a “fantastic new resource for our members”.

Post-Brexit support

The Lunchtime Learning webinar series was initially launched to help traders learn about the practical implications of the UK’s post-Brexit trade deal with the EU, which it signed at the end of 2020.

It covered important aspects of how the UK now trades with the EU including the importance of complying with rules of origin, customs documentation, new VAT rules and trade in services.

Free for members and priced at just £50 (including VAT) for non-members, the webinars were so popular with traders that a second series was launched in the spring.

The ‘Practical Trade’ series featured webinars on goods movements subject to sanitary and phytosanitary controls, returned goods relief and social responsibility in international trade.

Resource

Hastie, who organised the programme, told the IOE&IT Daily Update that the recordings are an invaluable resource for members and non-members alike that are looking to learn more about trade in a post-Brexit environment.

“The Lunchtime Learning webinars featured great tips and insights into how traders can continue to do business compliantly overseas following Brexit, ensuring they can maintain competitiveness and international growth,” she said.

“The new library of recordings is a great resource for members to now refer back to. For non-members, it’s another great reason to join!”

Ready Reckoners

To support members learn and memorise important concepts raised in the webinars, the IOE&IT has also published a series of introductory ‘Ready Reckoner’ guides.

This series of online one-page documents digests key trade procedures, such as using Incoterms and commodity codes, into clear and accessible language.

A new series of Lunchtime Learning webinars will also be announced in the coming weeks, Hastie said.
