There are many ways to become a member of the Institute of Export & International Trade. Whether you're a student, have technical or vocational qualifications or have simply built up years of experience, you can choose the path that best suits you.

Membership of the Institute will enhance your career, help you with any export issues you come across, boost the professionalism of your organisation and raise standards of international trade.

To join us you need to demonstrate experience of international trade, a commitment to learning or an interest in the Institute's work.

Professional Qualifications

If you're studying for one of the Institute's professional qualifications you'll join as a Student Member in order to register for your assessments. Depending on the qualifications and experience you already have you may be exempt from some units of study and we will advise you on this before you commence your studies.

Any person who has passed the Institute's professionals examinations at the Level 5 Diploma in International Trade or higher can apply to be a Graduate Member.

Industry Experience

Recognising workplace competence and experience, applicants can apply for this route if they have a minimum of three years' experience in international trade.

If you have 3 years' experience in international trade or have passed the Institute's professionals examinations at the Level 4 Diploma in International Trade or higher you can join as an Associate Member.

To join the Institute as a Full Member you should have 10 or more years' experience in international trade.

Retired Members can continue their membership of the Institute, to retain their Post Nominal letters and access to other membership benefits.

Applicants applying to join the Institute via this route will be required to provide evidence of experience, the Membership department will then assess your paperwork and confirm your eligibility into membership.

Affiliate Membership

If you have no experience of international trade but would like to join the Institute to find out more about our work, you can join us as an Affiliate Member.
