Anyone with an interest or involvement in international trade can join the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade. We offer tailored membership options for everyone. For more information, please see our membership grades at the top of this page.

Members gain professional recognition, access to expert advice, discounted training, exclusive resources and opportunities to network with global trade professionals - all designed to support success in international trade. For more information, please visit our membership benefits page.

We offer five professional membership grades based on experience:

Affiliate: For those new to international trade (0 - 3 years)
Associate (AMCIEx): For professionals with 3+ years of experience
Full Member (MCIEx): For those with 5+ years of experience
Fellow (FCIEx): For prestigious professionals with significant international trade expertise
Retired: For former members wishing to stay connected

You can apply for membership online by selecting the appropriate membership grade at the top of this page and completing the application form.

Membership typically lasts for one year from the date of joining or renewal. You’ll receive a reminder via email before your renewal is due to ensure continued access to your benefits.

You can rejoin by emailing us at membershipsupport@export.org.uk or calling +44 01733 404 400.

If your previous membership details are still on file, we may be able to reinstate your account quickly. Providing your membership number or email used previously can help speed up the process.

You will be notified via email prior to your renewal date. The email will include a link to your member portal where you can make a payment directly. For help with renewing on the portal, please see our step-by-step guide. Alternatively, you can contact us by calling +44 01733 404 400 and making a payment over the phone.

Yes, you can upgrade your membership if your experience or qualifications have progressed. For upgrades, please email us at membershipsupport@export.org.uk or call us on +44 01733 404 400.

You can use your post-nominals (i.e., AMCIEx, MCIEx, FCIEx) after your name to highlight your professional status. You can showcase them on LinkedIn, your CV and email signature to enhance your credibility and recognition in the international trade profession.

Credly badges are digital credentials awarded for completing qualifications or achieving membership recognition. We issue you a Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade Membership badge for use on your chosen digital platforms and email signatures.
