Interested in applying for AEO status? We can help...

Internationally recognised as a mark of quality, an AEO status effectively demonstrates that your role within the international supply chain is secure, and that your customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant.

Within the Single Market and the Customs Union as we are at present, companies holding Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification have already had a clear advantage when exporting, especially to the United States and the world's largest economies, through Mutual Recognition Agreements.

Post-Brexit, AEO certification will become even more desirable as an internationally recognised tool to keep cargo moving. The EU and UK are expected to recognise each other's AEO schemes in a Post-Brexit environment.

Why Apply for AEO accreditation? The commercial benefits can be considerable and include the following:

Benefit AEO-C  AEO-S
Reductions or waivers of the Customs Comprehensive Guarantee (CCG) x
Reduced risk score with HMRC leading to fewer physical and documentary checks   x
A notification waiver when making an entry in a declarant's records x
A 70% reduction in a business's deferment account guarantee x
Consignments being fast-tracked through customs control
x
Reciprocal arrangements and mutual recognition with countries outside the EU (for example, USA or trading partners that adopt the World Customs Organisation safe framework)   x
Reduced requirements for the mandatory pre-arrival and pre-departure Entry Summary Declarations or Exit Summary Declarations
x

Traceability of flows of goods   x
Improved security between supply chain partners   x
Faster application process for customs authorisations and approvals x
Internationally recognised supply chain kitemark x
Improved customs compliance x
Improved supply chain security   x
Comprehensive supply chain quality management system x x

As the number of businesses with AEO status steadily increases, so will the pressure on other companies to also comply.  Priority clearance for AEO certificated businesses will, by default, mean that non-certificated organisations will be dealt with as a secondary concern.

Registration is open to all businesses in the EU that are involved in the international trade of goods with non-EU countries, including logistics operators, carriers, freight forwarders, customs agents, importers, exporters and manufacturers.

If you are interested in becoming AEO accredited, or are in the process of renewing your existing accreditation, our customs and AEO experts can help with every stage of the process.
