The Institute of Export & International Trade is growing its marketing and PR teams with the creation of two new roles.

Peterborough-based IOE&IT has more than 100 staff, grown from a base of 15 people last year – an expansion due to accelerating demand for Institute membership and its suite of training courses and qualifications.

The new hires will help fuel further demand for trade expertise, now that Great Britain has departed from the EU’s customs union and single market.

Competitive salaries and excellent benefits are on offer to the successful candidates.

‘Diverse minds and skills’

Marco Forgione, director general of the IOE&IT, said: “The diverse minds and skills of our people combined with a dynamic workplace culture form the bedrock for our success as the leading UK training body for importers and exporters.

“These new roles are a great opportunity to be part of a growing enterprise, with career development, expanded horizons and great benefits rewarding the right candidates.”

Marketing executive role: ‘all-rounder’

The Institute seeks a marketing executive all-rounder with experience of running fully integrated campaigns across several channels.

“Our new marketing executive will play a central role in delivering our marketing plans,” says Sam Pileggi, the Institute’s director of marketing. “This is a great opportunity to manage fully integrated campaigns across several channels, whether that’s advertising, targeted email marketing and mapping digital user journeys.”

Candidates will need to have at least one year’s experience in managing marketing campaigns across a range of different channels – primarily email, social media (organic & paid) and PPC.

Senior PR executive – ‘enhancing the IOE&IT’s share of voice’

The IOE&IT has risen successfully to the challenges and opportunities presented by the rise in importance of international trade in media and political spheres in recent years.

As part of that process, the Institute recently appointed a public affairs director to shape and promote the IOE&IT’s external profile and voice – and now wishes to hire a senior PR executive to help further that aim.

The standout candidate will be able to display an understanding of policy formulation, strong verbal and written communications skills in all channels and an ability to formulate persuasive messages incisively to enhance IOE&IT’s share of voice.

Job locations

While current restrictions on travel and meeting remain in place, the roles will be carried out remotely.

Once these restrictions are lifted, the marketing role will be based at the Institute’s headquarters in Peterborough while the senior PR executive should expect to spend a day a week at these offices until the Institute establishes its London hub.

Last year the IOE&IT was part of a consortium that won the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) contract to provide the Trader Support Service (TSS) helping firms trading between Great Britain and Northern Ireland to adapt to new processes that took effect on 1 January 2021.
