Director General of the Institute of Export & International Trade, Lesley Batchelor OBE, was in Georgia last week to deliver Export Strategy Development training as part of the Institute’s contract with the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD).

These training sessions have been delivered by senior members of the IOE&IT team in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Mongolia, Moldova and Ukraine.

The purpose of the training is to develop the skills specifically of export consultants based in countries supported by EBRD. The aim of the training is to provide consultants with a tool kit that they can use in advising their clients on how best to access new international markets. The programme provides delegates with both the information and a methodology to use when advising their exporting clients. 

During the three days Lesley led the group on a journey that comprises the four essential elements of Analysis, Research, Planning and Implementation, covering all the elements that consultants need to consider when addressing the issues a potential client may have in developing international business. 

Georgia is increasing its role as an important trade partner for China, adding new products to its export list. After successfully exporting wine to China, now olive oil, whisky and tea will be Georgia’s next export products to China.
