HMRC are currently undertaking a research project as part of a government initiative  looking at how to make it easier for UK businesses to import and export and facilitate trade.

The current focus of the project is around imports, with the aim being to better understand the various parties involved in the importing process and how they engage and interact with each other.

They have already started to engage with intermediaries, such as freight forwarders who facilitate the import process for businesses, and are now looking to talk those businesses who import goods in order to see the process from their viewpoint.

They are now looking to talk to businesses of all sizes who import, regardless of whether an intermediary is utilised or not.

Researchers would like to speak with representatives from businesses either face-to-face, or over the phone during November.
