A new campaign has been launched through which businesses and trade professionals can show that they support global trade’s social value.
The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade is launching the initiative to mark its 90th anniversary, against the backdrop of rising geopolitical tension and an increase in protectionist trade policies around the world.
A brochure for the ‘Chartered Institute Trade Champion’ campaign says that it empowers organisations to show that they back “fair and legitimate international trade as a force for good in the world”.
Mission possible
In the brochure, the Chartered Institute’s director general Marco Forgione says that the campaign is being launched because the charity’s mission to empower “rules-based trade has never been more relevant and important”.
“The Chartered Institute was established as a charity in 1935 against the backdrop of rising trade protectionism in Europe,” he says.
“I’m delighted to invite your organisation to support this mission be one of our prestigious Trade Champions.”
Advocacy and understanding
The campaign aims to:
- raise awareness of opportunities for firms in global markets
- promote trade as a lever for reigniting economic growth
- raise understanding as to how trade education can bring prosperity to the developing world
- and advocate for the broader social value of trade to the public, businesses, government and multilateral bodies
Participants will get to showcase the value they bring to trade across the Chartered Institute’s external channels, while gaining ‘Trade Champion’ status among the charity’s community of businesses and trade professionals.
They will also get to enjoy the use of a ‘Trade Champions’ logo and have their brand associated with the Chartered Institute’s 90th anniversary.
‘Part of the mission’
“What that Trade Champion status does is highlight that you are part of a mission to promote free and fair trade as a force for good,” said Grace Thompson, the UK public affairs lead at the Charted Institute.
“It’s a really exciting campaign and an opportunity to be part of our broader 90th birthday celebration.”
