international customs day sustainability

Our Vice President, Arne Mielken, is hosting an informal meet-up of Customs professionals and global trade experts in London on the morning of 27 January to mark this year’s International Customs Day (ICD).

The annual celebration of the contribution of Customs rules and procedures to the global economy is organised by the World Customs Organisation. It is taking place on Sunday 26 January and this year’s designated slogan is: “Customs fostering Sustainability for People, Prosperity and the Planet”.

The breakfast meet on Monday morning will discuss this theme, with Arne delivering a presentation titled ‘Carbon Border Tax, the new Customs Duty?’

Arne has written on the topic in his discussion of the EU’s Green Deal which you can read here.

The event is taking place at Customs House from 9 till 11.
