There’s just a few weeks left for businesses working in international trade to enter the UK Export Excellence Awards 2017 where our director general, Lesley Batchelor OBE, is on the judging panel.

Jointly spearheaded by Global Trade Review and The Manufacturer, the March 24 deadline is looming to submit entries for the awards which were launched in 2016 to celebrate and commemorate the achievements of UK exporters.

Recognising excellence across a range of sectors and geographical regions, they acknowledge success in a chosen discipline - and companies of all sizes and industries are eligible to enter.

The categories are:-

Export Excellence in Africa

Export Excellence in the Americas

Export Excellence in Asia-Pacific

Export Excellence in Europe

Export Excellence in Mena

Best use of UK Export Finance

Best supply chain

Innovation in exporting

Best first time export

Lesley Batchelor is on the judging panel for the second year and will be meeting her high profile colleagues to decide the winners on 11th May. They include Julian Hucker, chairman of Open to Export; Margaret Eyres, head of direct lending, UK Export Finance (UKEF); and Ian Kerr, chief executive officer, Bolero.

The glittering awards ceremony and gala dinner on 15th June follows the UK Trade & Export Finance Conference 2017 which provides a crucial forum for the UK’s business, government and financial sectors to discuss ongoing trade priorities ahead of the evening’s proceedings.

Lesley Batchelor said: “The awards are a perfect platform to showcase the achievements of companies making waves in international trade. They reinforce how vital it is for product and service based businesses across the UK to include exports in their planning and growth strategy.

“The news agenda will continue to keep the spotlight on international relations and trade over the next few months and it is vital that we all champion, encourage and support exporting to secure our economic security.”
