The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade has today (5 January) launched its programme of news and insights content for 2026, with a rebrand of its daily newsletter and public webinar programme.
The Daily Update newsletter, which you can subscribe to for free for a regular feed of key trade news and developments, will now be named Global Trade Today.
Its public webinar programme, which has become a key watch for the industry over the last decade, will now be called Global Trade Live. These free webinars will now take place on the second Tuesday of each month.
The member-exclusive Lunchtime Learning programme also returns for its sixth year, with sessions to generally take place on the fourth Thursday of each month.
Global Trade Today
Executive editor William Barns-Graham noted that the new name for the daily newsletter pays homage to former publications produced by the Chartered Institute.
“The Chartered Institute has been keeping trade professionals and businesses up to date on key news stories and industry trends for over 90 years. It used to do this via a print publication called Export Today, which it produced for multiple decades.
“The new name for our daily digital newsletter, Global Trade Today, pays homage to this heritage, while reflecting how our content now serves everyone in the trade ecosystem – including exporters, importers, supply chain firms, customs professionals, policymakers and more – both in the UK and internationally.
“If you’re not already subscribed, sign up today for free to stay in the loop on key trade news stories, policy developments, and changing rules and systems.”
Global Trade Live
In a social media video, Barns-Graham also kicked off the Chartered Institute’s programme of free webinars for 2026, which will this year be called Global Trade Live.
He reflected on how the webinar programme has become a key watch for many professionals and businesses over the last decade.
“Over recent years, Brexit, the pandemic and US tariffs have made it more important than ever for people in our industry to ensure they have up to date knowledge about trade regulations and supply chain trends.
“Our webinars have continually kept traders in the loop, giving you insights on evolving regulations, government policy and technological trends ahead of time, helping to ensure effective and compliant international trade.”
The Winter/Spring programme
Taking place on the second Tuesday of each month, the first session will look at the ‘Three Pillars of Customs Compliance’ on 13 January.
In February and March there will then be webinars on the EU’s changing approach to trade policy and on the UK’s free trade agreements.
Further afield over the Spring and early Summer, there will be Global Trade Live sessions on how to prepare for a customs audit, the UK-EU trading relationship and the emerging role of AI in customs.
There will also be exclusive Lunchtime Learning sessions for the Chartered Institute’s members on the latest UK customs changes, the EU’s withdrawal of de minimis and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in the first quarter of the year.
