Rob is a passionate advocate of skills-based training and technical education.
Before becoming FAB’s CEO in August 2024 he was IfATE’s Director of Skills Delivery responsible for developing employer-led qualifications and apprenticeships. He introduced over 700 apprenticeships, 22 T-Levels, 250 HTQs and 200 Level 3 qualifications, working alongside employers, DfE, Ofqual, assessment organisations and training providers.
Initially an Army Engineer, Rob lead a UK Operating Division before becoming their HR Director. He retired from the Army in 2018 to pursue the development of a world-beating skills system, where everyone is encouraged and supported to realise their potential.
Rob is the Chair of Governors at the City of Portsmouth College and a Fellow of CIPD and IMechE.
