Compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is set to become a requirement for large and medium-sized traders from the end of this year, with micro and small firms needing to comply from 30 June 2026.
EUDR requires businesses to show that goods entering or leaving the EU have not contributed to deforestation since 2020, irrespective of their legality otherwise. Several goods fall into the scope of EUDR, including palm oil, soy, coffee, cocoa, wood and cattle.
Many companies trading in these commodities will now have extra reporting obligations when exporting to the EU. They will need to be compliant with these requirements to remain competitive and to maintain trade with Europe.
On 24 September 2025, one of the Chartered Institute’s lead EUDR expert, Joseph Goldsworthy, will be delivering a member-exclusive Lunchtime Learning on the timeline for EUDR implementation and what businesses of all sizes can do now to prepare for the upcoming regulation.
When: 12:00 – 13:00 BST, Wednesday 24 September 2025
Where: Microsoft Teams Townhall
Speaker: Joseph Goldsworthy, Academy Trade and Customs Specialist, The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade
