Global Trade Live: Preparing for a customs audit

Free to attend

Duration:

45 Mins

Location:

Online Only

Start Date:

14 Apr 2026 2:00 pm

End Date:

14 Apr 2026 2:45 pm

HMRC can conduct an audit at any point to check whether your business is complying with UK customs rules and procedures. Being prepared is essential – particularly as importers must be able to demonstrate compliance with UK customs regulations, including the correct payments of duties and taxes.

Non-compliance can lead to demands for duty repayments, withdrawal of customs authorisations, financial penalties and wider reputational consequences. This can create mistrust with customers, suppliers and logistics partners, and may also impact future relationships with HMRC.

Join us for this free Global Trade Live webinar hosted by the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade, where customs experts and importers will share practical advice on how to prepare for an audit with confidence.

Agenda

  • Know the Law: What are the rules and regulations around customs compliance and audits
  • Panel Discussion: What you can do to ensure you’re ready for an audit
  • Duties in Focus: How technology can help you check you’re paying the right duties
  • Questions from the Helpline: Answers to FAQs on customs compliance

Need more help?

  • Get hands-on expert support through our ‘Customs Audit Preparation and Post-audit Mitigation’ advisory service
  • Check your business is paying the correct customs duties using the online tool, MyCustomsInfo
