EBRD training in Kiev

Director of Special Projects, John Reed, delivered Export Strategy Development training in Ukraine in March as an ongoing part of the Institute’s contract with the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD). These training sessions have been delivered by senior members of the IOE&IT team in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Mongolia, and Ukraine, with Moldova on the immediate horizon for April.

The purpose of the training is to develop the skills specifically of export consultants based in countries supported by EBRD. The aim of the training is to provide consultants with a tool kit that they can use in advising their clients on how best to access new international markets. The programme provides delegates with both the information and a methodology to use when advising their exporting clients.

The group of 22 delegates in Kiev were a mix of experienced consultants, new consulting companies, and academics. During the three days John and a local consultant Dmytro Shvets led the group on a journey that comprises the four essential elements of Analysis, Research, Planning and Implementation, covering all the elements that consultants need to consider when addressing the issues a potential client may have in developing international business.

After 21 exercises, a negotiation role play exercise, and the presentation by each group of delegates of their recommended New Market Entry Plan to your case study client, each of the group felt they were better equipped to develop export programmes for their clients. Many of the delegates have already taken advantage of the post-training services provided by IOE&IT.
