This level 3 apprenticeship provides the knowledge, teaches the skills and embodies the behaviours that an organisation should expect from their team leaders and supervisors, underpinning the organisations strategic and tactical aims with the calibre of manager required to deliver these targets.

A team leader or supervisor is a first line management role, with operational and project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.

Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

The typical duration of the learning period for this apprenticeship is 12–18 months, excluding the end point assessment phase. This apprenticeship will provide learners with the core knowledge and skills relevant to a supervisor or team leaders:

    • Interpersonal excellence – managing people and developing relationships with focus on leading people, managing people, building relationships and communication styles
    • Organisational performance - delivering results with focus on operational management, project management and finance
    • Personal effectiveness – managing self with focus on awareness of self, management of self and decision making
    • Behaviours – to highlight on taking responsibility, inclusiveness, agile and professionalism

Entry Requirements:

Qualifications:

In addition to the apprenticeship standard learners must undertake Maths and English Functional Skills Level 2 if these aims (or equivalent) have not previously been achieved.
