This year’s IOE Graduation and Prize Ceremony will celebrate the first graduates of our flagship Foundation Degree in Professional Practice in International Trade which has been delivered in association with Anglia Ruskin University.

The event on May 6 at London’s historic Mansion House acknowledges the vibrant success of the Institute’s graduates – and marks an unprecedented doubling in student numbers who are expected to enrol on our internationally accredited courses across 2014.

The enrolment rise is instrumental in recognising the importance that businesses place in embedding professionalism into international trade by investing in enhancing the skills of their teams.

Other successes this year have seen 100 business advisors from Barclays, our main sponsor for the evening, studying for the IOE’s prestigious Certified International Trade Advisor course – with 25 of them graduating.

Leading figures attending the ceremony will be Alderman and Sheriff Adrian Waddingham CBE who will represent the Lord Mayor of London. Keynote speeches will be made by Lord Empey, OBE who will focus on the skills needed to succeed in international trade.

Director General, Lesley Batchelor, said: “The IOE courses are internationally recognised and the number of organisations enrolling their employees on them reflects the key role they play in global trading.

“This year is a bumper year which is tremendous. Our courses equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise to work in international trade. We also focus on improving their knowledge of the context of international trade, ensuring they are aware of the differing cultural aspects and ways of doing business.

“With exporting being the key to the UK’s economic recovery, our courses play an even more significant role than ever. This graduation ceremony allows us to show our appreciation of the dedication and commitment our students have put into their studies and to give them an opportunity to meet with fellow students, employers and dignitaries involved in international trade.”

A big thank you to the main sponsors of this year’s event – Barclays Bank and ACCA with prizes from Geest, Norsk and CITA.
