YABA Gala Dinner

The Institute of Export is delighted to support the Yorkshire Asian Business Association (YABA) annual gala dinner which acknowledges the dynamic achievements of regional companies.

The IOE is sponsoring the vibrant awards event on 29th September at the Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford, which promises a feast of entertainment, food and networking opportunities.

Research published by the CBI says the British Asian community generates around 10% of the country’s GDP – despite making up only 4% of the population. YABA provides a voice for Asian businesses on a regional, national and international level.

With a strong focus on supporting exporters, its niche international knowledge and expertise helps them to create global trade links and boost their business prospects.

The host of the showcase event – which will reveal the winners of the seven-category YABA Awards – is the popular and high-profile Tommy Sandhu from BBC Asian Network. Guests will also enjoy a delicious three-course Indian fusion dinner and a wealth of networking opportunities with the region’s business leaders.

YABA chairman Amarjit Singh said: “We are delighted to have the Institute of Export as a sponsor of our Awards this year. The Institute do so much for trade and align with YABA’s objective of supporting businesses at an international level.

“Asian businesses have come a long way and have traditionally punched above their weight both in terms of their contribution to the UK and the diversity of business models. All too often these businesses go unrecognised and YABA are delighted to be changing that through the Awards and our ongoing efforts to accelerate the growth of business across the region.”

Institute of Export, director general, Lesley Batchelor OBE, commented: “YABA is a key supporter and promoter of regional export activity and we are delighted to get behind its key calendar event, which celebrates winners’ vibrant achievements along with the vital role that YABA plays.

“The IOE’s sponsorship of the awards is aligned with our remit to champion global traders and export organisations nationwide – encouraging all regions and sectors to harness the wealth of opportunities in international trade.”
