The UK government has helped facilitate £2.6bn of inward investment towards domestic net zero projects over the last 10 months.

Dozens of ‘net zero’ projects that will create thousands of jobs have benefited from support from the Department for International Trade or its partners.

Business Green reports that 46 projects have been supported by the DIT between November 2020 and September this year.

Ahead of the COP26 conference, which the UK is hosting in Glasgow from 31 October-12 November, the government said the projects support priorities set out in the 10 Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, announced by the Prime Minister last autumn. 

Overall, the Plan has been responsible for £5.8bn of investment and 56,000 jobs in UK clean industries. 

The government is ambitious to make the UK a global leader in green technology and finance. Projects funded include more than £650m in advancing offshore wind this year, supporting almost 3,600 jobs across the Humber and North-East and over £900m in accelerating the shift to zero-emissions vehicles.

Envision AESC will invest over £400m in battery manufacturing as part of a £1bn project with Nissan and Sunderland Council to create a flagship Electric Vehicle Hub. ENI Spa has invested more than £400m in offshore wind.
