Withdrawal Agreement Bill granted Royal Assent

The Withdrawal Agreement Bill – the legislation enforcing the UK’s departure from the EU as per the conditions of the EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement agreed towards the end of last year – has been granted Royal Assent.

This means the UK will leave the EU at 31 January 2020, 11:01pm, initiating a transition period in which trading rules between the two parties will remain the same until 31st December 2020, during which a comprehensive trade agreement will be negotiated.
