New training structure introduced

The Institute has changed the design of its training programme to offer a clear sense of progression for individuals and businesses looking to develop the skills needed to export and import successfully.

Courses are now split into three groups – ‘Introductory Courses’, ‘Advanced Courses’ and ‘Operational Courses’. For our general training around exporting, importing, letters of credit and sales and marketing, you are now able to decide between taking either the introductory or the advanced courses, depending on your level of experience. Once you’ve completed your first introductory course, you will now have a clearer route to take when deciding your next course.

Our operational courses cover things like Incoterms, selling to Russia, the Union Customs Code, UK & US export controls, and planning for life after Brexit. We also offer in-house training courses for companies looking to train multiple staff at the same time.

New digital badge system

Our new digital badge program enables you to share your success as you progress through our courses and qualifications.  They can be used in email signatures or digital CVs as well as social media profiles like LinkedIn and Twitter. The badges show the courses you have completed with the Institute.

Digital badges are a great way of sharing your success with your contemporaries on social media and email. They also help you to distinguish yourself from other job seekers or competitors, helping to ensure your current and future employers are aware of the skills you have gained in international trade.

The badges contain metadata that describes the courses and qualifications you’ve taken and what is involved in completing them.

We partnered with digital badging provider Acclaim (a part of Pearson) to create them, and they’re easy to attain. Once you’ve completed a course or qualification, the Institute and Acclaim will email you with simple instructions for claiming your badge.
