Following the success of our South West World Trade Summit last year, we will be hosting a second event on July 6th in partnership with Plymouth University.

Aimed at businesses in the South West who are working in international trade, the ‘Blueprint for Global Britain’ will examine the issues and opportunities in accessing new markets and the debate will help shape the future of global commerce.

Taking place at Plymouth University, the summit starts with registration and coffee at 9.00am, the morning session’s focus is ‘Brexit and International Trade’. After lunch, the vibrant conference will turn its attention to ‘Enabling the South West International Trade Performance’.

We are delighted to announce that the keynote speaker will be the Institute’s new president, Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint. He will be joined by some of the leading authorities on export markets from a mix of industry and academia, who will bring together a wealth of thought leadership on the same platform.

Among the speakers is Alastair Ross, director at Codexx, who will focus on 'Innovating product and service value for global markets'. He will be joined by Stephen Dilley, partner at Bond Dickinson; Iman El Sherif, secretary general of the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce and Tim Jones of Devon & Cornwall Business Council.

Also on the platform will be Siddharth Mukne, regional head at UK India Business Council; Peter McCann, DataWise Intelligence Ltd; John Worthington CEO at IBT Online; and Miles Carden, Aerohub Cornwall.

IOE&IT director general, Lesley Batchelor OBE, will give closing remarks before the Summit continues with a drinks reception and networking event from 5.00pm.

She said: “In an ever changing business environment, the Institute is continuing to drive its remit to raise the skills of those involved in international trade by engaging with business and government to explore some of the options that are available to South West business.”

The South West Summit is £25 + VAT for IOE&IT members and £50 + VAT for non-members. You can register for your tickets here.
