We may only be a quarter of a way in, but 2015 has already proved to be a year of momentous change for the IOE.

A raft of formative developments sees us mark our 80th birthday, implement significant changes to our operating and governance procedures – and celebrate our director general, Lesley Batchelor, receiving an OBE for her outstanding contribution to business.

As an expanding and evolving organisation, the time is right to implement internal changes  to the running of the institute – as well as reflect this growth and confidence externally.

To this end, we have refreshed and updated our branding with the introduction of a new logo which combines a fresh modern look, with a sense of tradition and pride.

Our coat of arms remains in our new logo, symbolising our history, integrity and strength, and is married with a deeper sense of clarity and definition.

Designed by Nick Saltmer at Saltmer Design, the steely blue hue of the new logo gives it an industrial feel, whilst the gold emphasis of the lion holding the owl and the book reflects our core value of knowledge providing wisdom and strength.

We have also commissioned an 80th birthday logo which will be showcased exclusively this year, in acknowledgement of our 80th celebrations. Simple yet powerful, at the centre of the logo is ‘80 Years’ written in gold and set against a royal red backdrop. Encircling it proudly is the statement “80 years at the heart of international trade”.

Our contemporary digitalised logos not only look great, but will ensure that the reproduction quality is first rate and make it easier for third party suppliers to promote it on their own literature.

Tradition and continuity are important – as are adaptability and change. This is our way of saying that we are proud to have been at the heart of international trade for the last 80 years, whilst demonstrating our commitment to embracing the challenges of the future with the same sense of pride, professionalism, progress and passion that we have always demonstrated.
