This year’s Going Global – which was organised in partnership with the Institute of Export  – proved to be yet another outstanding success, with a record number of people attending during the two day event.

The exhibition – which increases in popularity year on year – saw more than 30,000 visitors enjoy free seminars, workshops, expert speakers, live demonstrations, networking, master classes and panel debates – all of which had been designed to help boost their awareness and skills in global trading.

The annual event targets those British companies who are looking to expand internationally and who want to learn more about growing their overseas operations in markets including the BRICS, MINT, Africa and Europe.

Our director general, Lesley Batchelor OBE, helped to ensure that the first day got off to a flying start with a detailed insight into the impact that evolving digital developments have on global trade.

Lesley’s speech focussed on the importance of businesses having robust delivery solutions and support when trading digitally internationally, the need for organisations to harness eCommerce for payments, and why eMarketing can help to ensure that business sales are delivered swiftly and effectively.

Joining Lesley at the exhibition was an inspirational line-up of leading industry speakers who shared their expertise on exporting matters and international expansion.

Fellow speakers included Dan Waldschmidt, a global business expert and best-selling author, who outlined how exporters can drive business growth, international retail expert, Monica Costales-Vasquez who detailed what British retailers needed to know before expanding into Latin American markets, and Trevor Barton, director at the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce, who offered advice on exporting to Russia.

A fantastic couple of days was enjoyed by all who attended, and we are sure that next year’s event will prove to be even better.
