The Institute is once again delighted to champion Exporting is Great week which is spearheaded by UK Trade & Investment – and integral to the government’s initiative to inspire and support 100,000 additional exporters.

Running across April 18-22, the vibrant week brings together the public and private sector in a common goal to generate a UK exporting movement while backing and encouraging more UK companies to reap the benefits of selling overseas.

Every region is hosting a series of events which will be updated regularly – enabling you to filter them by the region of your choosing. The Exporting is Great roadshow is also on track to give first hand advice across specific areas.

At the forefront of developing international trade in the UK for more than 80 years, the Institute applauds this fantastic national celebration of exporting, and is looking forward to even more businesses taking the plunge.

As part of Exporting is GREAT week, John Reed, Director of Special Projects at the IOE, will host a practical workshop in Coventry on Thursday, April 21 from 10am-midday, on how companies can use the Export Action Plan.

Designed by Open to Export – set up by the government as a digital route to boost the UK’s SME exports – the Action Plan is an easy-to-use and completely free online planning tool for small businesses who want to take their first steps to selling internationally.

The session will cover:

– Key considerations and key challenges in your journey to export success

– Tools and support available for your business

– How to find (or start looking for) the right market for your products or services

Participants will walk away with valuable insights and be well on their way to completing an Export Action Plan – giving them the chance to win £3000 in cash funding in Open to Export’s competition by pitching their export plans to a panel of expert judges at the International Festival for Business 2016 in Liverpool on June 30. The competition final will be an inspiring event and a great opportunity for 10 UK SMEs to showcase their business.

All registered attendees of the Open to Export session will also automatically be enrolled in the afternoon session from 2pm-6pm, which will bring over 100 delegates together to network, explore the UKTI Export Hub, talk to business leaders about start-up financing, app-building and technology, and showcase  exportable products.
