Diploma in International Trade

Level 5 Equivalent

Overview of the Course

The Diploma in International Trade (DIT) examines the ability of the student to manage the broader managerial aspects of International Trade and make the right decisions when problems arise.

Provided as Supported Distance Learning

Time: Approx. 82 Hours each of 3 Topics over a 12-18 month period*

Location: Online Tutor supported Distance learning

Sessions: study is supported by online tutors, webinars, video sessions and learning materials online

Course fee:  £975.00

+ £60.00 pa (£57.50 if you pay by Direct Debit) EU Students or £62.50 pa non-EU Students

+ Assessments - £130.00 per module.

Entry Requirements: 19 years of age or over and successful completion of the Advanced Certificate in International Trade (ACIT). Candidates with an existing Degree from a recognised University and / or more than 5 years’ experience in international trade will be considered for direct entry to the Diploma.

Module Overviews

1. International Marketing Strategy

On completion of this module the successful student will be able to:

  • identify the motives and strategic decisions necessary for international marketing operations
  • outline the planning processes and methods involved in the generation of strategic choices for iternational marketing decisions
  • explain the strategic issues involved in selecting and entering international markets including the relevance of organisational structures
  • evaluate appropriate methods of trading and marketing internationally
  • manage effectively all the elements of the marketing mix
  • explain the relationship between the marketing mix strategy and successful market development

International Marketing Strategy (formerly International Marketing Planning)

2. International Logistics and Purchasing

On completion of this module the successful student will be able to:

  • define the role and importance of logistics in an international context;
  • use that ability within a corporate structure to maximise the effectiveness of an organisation’s marketing and distribution strategy
  • recommend the appropriate measures for the management of transport, warehousing, inventory and materials handling
  • advise and develop a strategy for the effective performance of the logistics process and systems
  • recommend the most cost effective means of exporting and importing by the proper management and planning of Customs regulations and facilitations
  • evaluate the various global sources of products and materials
  • establish the procedures necessary to implement and control a global sourcing policy

3. Management of International Trade

On completion of this module the successful student will be able to:

  • use appropriate techniques of corporate strategy and management in an international context
  • identify appropriate supply strategies and structures
  • set up effective structures for corporate management
  • explain to colleagues the importance of international financial strategies and pricing policies
  • recommend suitable sources of trade finance in an international context
  • manage the risks related to multi currency trading
  • suggest appropriate methods to establish effective business development

4. Practical Global Trading

This module is a revision module incorporating the above three module and a final assessment will be submitted
