Important SASO update for manufacturers and exporters/importers of refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washing machines, electric motors and lighting products.

Saudi customs now enforce SASO Energy Efficient Labelling regulations, and demand that products are shown to comply with strict energy efficiency standards before granting entry to ports.

So, we asked IOE&IT corporate member and expert in export certificates of conformity, XDS Solutions, to provide a simple regulatory update to help ensure Institute members are prepared.

Scope of the products affected by SASO EER Registration for Electrical and Electronic Products:
- Refrigerators and Freezers
- Air Conditioners
- Washing Machines
- Lighting products
- Electric Motors

The registration Process:
- The product or equipment is tested to SASO Standard 2874:2016 and a Test Report is issued.
- An application is made online, resulting in issuance of an EER certificate label for the product or equipment.
- This process will typically take 2-3 weeks, from start to issuance of registration documents.
- SASO EER certifications are issued per model and are valid for 1 YEAR.

Each type of product has its own certification mark, as shown here:

Further information, and a helpful list of the standards specific products should comply with can be found in the recent XDS Solutions blog ‘SASO EER REGISTRATION’.

Exporters who are concerned about the complexities of international compliance can boost their knowledge base by enrolling staff on the Institute’s Diploma in World Customs Compliance. The pioneering 18 month to two-year online course offers part-time blended learning, with modular assessments - and leads to a full customs qualification at level 5 diploma level. You can check it out here – where you will also find details of our complete range of professional qualifications.
