IOE member, Blaythorne Group, is working with the Institute to prepare for the unique defence, police and security equipment show, CX2016, in February, at Victoria, London.

The annual invitation event at the Royal Horticultural Hall identifies and showcases up to 50 British companies who have produced – or who are researching – innovative new technology for the sector.

It will be the 17th CX – which Blaythorne has organised since 2009. Aimed at SMEs who do not have opportunities to show at larger exhibitions, CX has an excellent track record – generating significant global orders and development funding for exhibitors every year.

Guests and exhibitors are handpicked and the discreet, private event allows operators and procurement decision makers to talk in confidence. International delegates include high level military personnel and police officers, government ministers and civil servants and embassy officials.

The collaboration between Blaythorne and the IOE will see the Institute take a stand this year, to inform exhibitors about the support and guidance available to fulfil and exceed their export goals. CX2016 will also feature product demonstrations and hospitality events throughout the day and, following last year’s very well-received presentation by National Crime Agency head of intelligence, Dr Jamie Saunders, another heavyweight keynote speaker will be announced shortly.

Blaythorne Group Director and Co-Founder, Harry Legge-Bourke, said: “As guests are handpicked for their seniority and decision-making ability, CX2016 is an event of unparalleled significance for companies who have developed very specific kit and innovations in counter-terrorism, surveillance and security and want to demonstrate it to buyers for police, military security organisations and Heads of International Corporations.”

An IOE member for six months, Blaythorne is staffed almost entirely by professionals who have seen active service in the military, police or emergency services. The Crickhowell company is an independent specialist consultant in medical, security and counter-explosive threat. It advises on the creation of secure working environments and also provides training, equipment and practical services, such as risk assessment, change management and staff events.

Chief Operating Officer, Tim Simpson, added: “The IOE has already proved itself a valuable partner. Exporting forms the bulk of our activity and we were anxious to plug staff into the Institute’s educational courses, which have broadened our knowledge base with practical skills – as well as boosting our employees’ confidence.”

IOE Director General, Lesley Batchelor, said: “Blaythorne sets a fine example: it is a successful exporter that makes great efforts to encourage the global trading ambitions of others in its sector. The business also proves that those who are experienced in international trade can stay on top of their game by upskilling staff and encouraging them to achieve formal, relevant qualifications.”
