Course ContentEssentially, the Distance Learning courses are composed of comprehensive notes, which follow the syllabus requirements of the professional qualifications. The material guides students through their chosen course, defining and explaining the concepts and procedures of international trade. All courses contain self-assessment tests at the end of most units, which enable students to determine how they are progressing. In addition, The Institute provides advice on how to approach subjects and suggests essential reading. The course material can be supplied in hard copy, CD-ROM or online format. There is no difference in content between the formats. However, the CD-ROM or online option allows more flexibility of access. TuitionThe Institute of Export delivers full tuition distance learning courses for each of the professional qualifications. Students who enrol on the full tuition route have access to a tutor for each of the modules. Students are able to submit assignments for marking and informative feedback, which helps identify where they may need to target further study and revision. Tutors are also available, by phone or e-mail, to answer enquiries related to the syllabus, provide explanations and further reading. All of the tutors who are contracted to provide tutor support for the Distance Learning courses are selected by the Institute’s Development and Training Working Party. All of our tutors have experience in tutoring students within an educational setting and many have a supporting qualification. In addition, all of our tutors have worked or are working within the International Trade arena. Students have access to the tutors and therefore proceed through the material using the assignment questions, after marking some specimen answers are also provided to self assess how they are progressing. The study material also contains activities and self-assessment questions for students to determine their strengths and weaknesses. Studying the courseIt is for the student to decide whether to study one module at a time or the whole course simultaneously.
