At Last – Apprenticeships in International Trade The IOE has been providing opportunities for individuals to gain competence in international trade for the last 75 years and this year our level 2 and 3 qualifications are part of the national apprenticeship scheme. This means that any young person who wants to study at either level, and fits a few elements of the qualifying process, will be able to study and enter the assessment process completely free of charge. Anyone who knows of a young person who is working in this field is encouraged to become qualified and begin a real career in international trade. Once enrolled a student needs will be assessed as well as their role within their organisation. Our training needs analysis allows us to create an individual learning plan within established timescales and allows for learning and support to achieve their qualification which consists of NVQ (National Vocational Qualification at either level 2 or 3) – Technical Certificate for Level 2 is Young International Trader or COAST INTRO and for the level 3 this includes our Certificate In International Trade The Level 2 qualifications in international trade and shipping focus on the skills and knowledge needed to operate as a an export or shipping clerk, covering import and export processes, the documentation involved in shipping goods (including bills of lading), finance documentation (documentary letters of credit, bills of exchange, etc.) and systems, INCOTERMS, contract law and international law (including the Carriage Acts) to be able to operate legally, effectively and professionally. The Level 3 qualifications are suitable for senior clerks, team leaders and supervisors, who require the knowledge and skills to carry out their responsibilities to deal with complex situations and problems in an appropriate manner and with confidence.
