5 March 2008 - Hosted by DLA Piper and presented by one of their highly experienced partners Mr. Fung King Tak, the Hong Kong Branch of The Institute and some affiliated organisations were treated to a fascinating glimpse into the world of 'International Trade Fraud and China Trade Dispute Resolution'.
Following the talk, illustrated with interesting case studies, the group enjoyed a fine cocktail spread which included excellent pork buns, a Macau speciality.
Best Practise Quality Assurance
6 May 2008 - In a cooperation between the IoE and the British Chamber of Commerce, a breakfast briefing was given to introduce 'Best Practice Quality Assurance' for anyone purchasing or manufacturing products in China.
Topics included:
- The importance of quality,
- How best to use the tools available,
- About product testing, factory audits
- Final inspections.
In-House Training For New China Office
The program included time and efficiency training as well as more specific instruction on quality assurance and supply chain control.
The training was initially classroom based, including role-play and even the shooting of a training video, then later moved into two factories where newly acquired techniques were put to the test. Altogether 12 sourcing and quality executives attended the training.
Protocol Skills
Evening Event August 2007: Protocol Skills An enjoyable and illuminating evening was had by a select group of members who attended the talk given by Kate-Magg Chau. After a brief period of networking, the snacks and drinks arrived and the workshop began.
The speaker addressed such topics as handshaking, gift giving and namecard protocols as well as how to properly introduce one person to another in a business or social setting. Various members exchanged their own personal experiences and it proved to be an unusual and interactive session. The event was held in the Garden Room of the USRC, Jordan.
Marketing in Global Trade at City University

On 1 August 2007, Christopher Riley, Chairman of the Hong Kong Branch, gave a 2 hour presentation to a group secondary school Teachers at the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE), City University of Hong Kong attending a development program called 'Marketing in Global Trade'. The topic of the talk was 'Best Practice Quality Assurance in International Trade' and was organised by Ronald Lau of SCOPE.
